APAP Gives Paralegal Training

Based on its objective of expanding legal-aid services in the country through different CBOs and CSOs, APAP has conducted paralegal training for 50 volunteers of KMG (Kembata Menti Gezma-Tope), a local NGO working mainly toward the elimination of harmful traditional practices related to women, at Durame, Kembata, from April 30th to May 09, 2008. The beneficiaries of the training were volunteers working in the seven satellite woredas of Kembata on gender issues. They also gave some legal aid to the communities without at first acquiring sufficient legal skills and information.

The training was prepared based on the findings of the needs-assessment conducted earlier. Those who have successfully finished the training were assigned to their respective woredas to voluntarily and regularly give legal aid.
