Accountability and Capacity strengthening Program

APAP defines its accountability and capacity strengthening program as a range of actions and interactions to be initiated and maintained with government structures and other duty bearers in a comprehensive manner so that they are better informed and able to discharge their obligations for the realization of human rights of the poor and other disadvantaged social groups.

Under the Accountability and Capacity Strengthening Program, APAP would pursue the following objectives:

  • Improving the awareness, commitment and accountability of legal and moral duty bearers regarding international and national level human rights standards and corresponding obligations;
  • Developing the capacity of legal duty bearers in monitoring and reporting on the status of rights as well as building their capacity to engage in human rights education;
  • Enhancing the engagement of local level CSOs/ NGOs in undertaking human rights promotion and protection activities as well as in adopting the Rights Based Approach; and
  • Improving the engagement of local level CSOs/ NGOs in carrying out focused advocacy initiatives.
